If you are keeping a calendar and looking for historical events on this day in history for March 19th, this is the resource for you.  Here are all of the pop culture and significant events of March 19th through time.

Fans of the study of space and planets may think it significant that the first ever recorded lunar eclipse occurred in March 19th, 721 BC in Babylon.  On a similar page Pluto was photographed for the first time in 1915 even though it was and is again not recognized as a planet.  Interesting how between then and now it was deemed a planet and then saw its status revoked and demoted again.

In 1931, the US state of Nevada legalized gambling and changed forever the image of the state.  Could you imagine Las Vegas without the appeal and tourism because of this March 19th in history?  Indeed the draw from national and international travelers came very much from the events of this day and the ideals of winning it big in Nevada.

Thirteen years before that the United States established daylight savings time.  We just adjusted our clocks here in the US about a week ago as a result of this phenomena.  The goal of these periodic adjustments was to have more daylight hours and reduce the cost of lighting and power nationally during the darkness.

In 1964 Sean Connery stepped on to the film set for his first day shooting his unforgettable role in "Goldfinger" as James Bond.  Many regard this film as Connery's finest performance.

In 1932 the historic Sydney Harbor Bridge was opened in Australia.  This attraction has become an iconic image of technology in structures that is mentioned often in the same sentence with the Golden Gate in San Francisco.

In 1991, the Sacramento Kings set an NBA record for 29 consecutive losses on the road.  This brings to mind the current talks between the Kings franchise and the city of Anaheim about possible relocating the franchise that has spent twenty-five years in Sacramento and has been unable to build another arena in the capitol city.  Again the team finds itself among the lowest tier of the NBA in terms of success but has a great young roster that could be poised to move up again in the future. Just two days ago the owners trademark "Anaheim Royals".

These are a few of the events of March 19th through history, what more will happen today to add to this list?
