Dating back to the ADs, mankind has been trying to find out where God is. Nimrod championed this course in the Old Testament narration when he pioneered the building of The Tower of Babel (Gen 11 vs 19) to reach out to the abode of God; only to be stopped by God himself when he put confusion amidst them.
Why are humans so concerned about the abode of God the Creator? Where is God actually? Can one really locate God? Well, am not a preacher, but if you consider talking to thousands of people monthly as preaching, then I should qualify as a preacher though I would renounce the title of a clergy.
The Quest for God
I guess it is an innate desire to really know God by all men. The Israelites of old were tired of serving a god whom they have never really seen so they made graven images and worshipped such. Even in present times, some persons set up idols and even living persons and worship such as their gods. Everyone seems to want a god to worship; especially the one they can see.
In this article, looking from the biblical perspective, I would like to answer the question as regard where God is.
Where Is God?
In the Old Testament story about the Garden of Eden, we were told that God used to visit Adam in the cool of the day to chat with him. What does this tell you? It tells that God does have a place of abode from where HE visits.
We were also told that “Enoch walked with God…….” Gen. 5 vs. 24. Also, Abraham was a friend of God according to the Old Testament as he discussed and negotiated the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. This all shows that God can talk, feel, see and lives in a place.
Now, where is God?
This might prove controversial to a lot of people, but this article is not meant to generate controversy but to answer the innate cravings of most men as regard where their Creator resides.
The Bible said that “For God has made the heavens his throne and the earth his foot stool…” Isaiah 66 vs 1, Acts 7 vs 49. Does this mean that God is that big? I guess not. In the New and Old Testament, the Bible said “….and God will send out his spirit upon all men and they shall speak in new tongues……” Acts 2 vs. 17 “…….and God formed man out of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.” Gen. 2 vs 7. The Bible also said in the words of Jesus Christ….. “For I am with you through all ages….” Mathew 28 vs 20.
From the bible passages above, one can safely say that God resides in every one of our heart, through HIS spirit. HIS spirit dwells in us; so that is where god is. He doesn’t just sit up there in heaven like a puppeteer directing the affairs of men. I guess most CEOs wouldn’t even do that. In searching for God and where HE resides, we should look deep into our own soul because that is where God truly is.
Perhaps, that is why the bible stated categorically, “…… ye are gods” John 10 vs 34, Psalm 82 vs 6 and also “The words I speak are spirit and life” John 6 vs 63. God resides in every one of us. He is not some executive vacationing in Hawaii. So next time you hear that little voice within your soul, it could just be that God is speaking to you.

Great insight about the almighty, Dan. Voted and truly enlightening.
You are right Rowan; but some persons find it confusing. take for instance, in the book of Job we were told that on the day that the sons of God came, Satan also came to accuse job. Most persons tend to believe that God resides in the heavens but he is right here with US; in our hearts....and @ deep blue, I appreciate the comments and votes. Thanks for the compliments.
Very thoughtful article Daniel. V.
@Deep Blue, thanks for the comment and vote. @Ron, thanks for the comment and vote as well. Really appreciate every support that you all have been giving me. You all make writing in factoidz a pleasant experience.
For me God is in nature and everything around us.
You are right Madam Brenda. God is everywhere...and in nature. But HE dwells in US; the ultimate creation of God.
Wow.. beautiful! You answered that question well my Dear. :D
I don't think the bible was meant to be taken literally that God is a man who lives in a physical place. Most people think that God is either everywhere, or everything.
