Possibly, the biggest turn off to religion is the approach taken to enroll someone into a religious denomination. If you are a child of a religious family it is often forced upon you unless your parents have the true faith and wait for you to decide you believe on your own and discover “your” personal relationship with God as it is intended. The more conversations I have with people who claim they don’t believe in God is because it was forced upon them.
I just spent over an hour discussing concepts of astrology, genetics, and other sciences along with concepts of religion with the younger brother of a religious neighbor friend of mine. No matter what anyone believes or is taught, we all can agree that we are our own being and we have free will to decide for ourselves what we believe personally. It is only when we become forceful or fanatical that violence plays a factor and fights or wars break out over the issues.
As a Christian I personally believe that in order to help a lost soul or a non believer find their own relationship with God, you have to let them be. Talking with them about religion the way someone set in their ways or trained such as a pastor would often turns many away from the idea that there could be a God. I like discussing how everything is linked and have done enough research to discuss this in great detail.
I for one would love nothing more than to lead millions of people to God. How can I do this where blessed servants of God have failed? I believe that by speaking openly and without forcing beliefs on another the discussion can take place in a manner that is entertaining to a lost soul and that there has planted a seed of thought within them. I have always believed in God even without being taught of his existence.
I am not afraid of my fellow Christians when I say some things I have seen take place in churches have turned people away and even I have left churches due to these issues. I believe that Satan has created denominations to keep Holy Wars current in the world. So many different denominations are based off of the same text of the Bible. There are Baptists, Catholics, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Protestants, Evangelists, you name it. They all share the same text, the Bible.
The Devil has segregated God’s people as man has segregated races in the past to create conflict. If ever we were to come together as one which is what God intends then we would be powerful. The Devil wants to prevent this from ever occurring. These religious denominations are legitimate to many believers however many also use them to make money. This is another turn off to religion. Religious groups are not taxed and therefore can make quite a lot of revenue.
Am I offending my Christian brothers and sisters? I do not apologize because I am not passing judgment but pointing out the facts that prevent us from leading more people to God. Love offerings are taken in a church to help needy families or the like not for a pastor to add a recreational room to an already large and fancy house. Years ago I attended a church in Gresham where the pastor had done this and I was visiting that day.
There has been one church out of the many I have attended in many different denominations that I felt comfortable in and the pastor taught me the greatest lesson of all, the Bible is a toll for an individual to create and maintain a personal relationship with God. This lesson has stuck in my mind, heart, and soul all my life since that day I learned it. We cannot force our beliefs on people. We can discuss them as they discuss theirs with us and hope we can catch their attention and lead them down the right path.
Atheists become offended by religious folk and even me and my writings. My intention is not to offend either party. I only wish to point out things as I see them through “my” personal relationship with God. Science cannot explain everything. Atheists want to believe that there is no God and that is their choice. Some believe this because they don’t want to accept the idea that there is a divine being or beings that are more powerful than man. Others just can’t grasp the concept because they have not experienced anything in life that would show them otherwise, and others are just downright rebellious.
Whatever the reasoning or belief, God created us with free will. We should not force any religion upon anyone. Have discussions and answer questions. This will plant the seeds and help you lead those to God that desire to be led. Those that want to not believe should be left to their beliefs but still have discussions without being shunned. So many religious fanatics that see a lost should not want to convert turn their backs on them and leave them as if they are not a person that you can still talk to about other things.
I am the guy that will speak with anyone about anything but will always keep my faith. Just because someone does not want to discuss religion or want to convert does not mean they should be shunned. Have conversations about other things but never give up on anyone. Someday they might decide its time or they might have had a personal experience that showed them the light. The point is as a Christian we should be there for the journey and be patient as God is patient with all of mankind.
This message is primarily for the believers. For the non believers, there are so few of you statistically that alone should tell you something. Science is based off of math and experiments which are the basic means of explaining or finding the explanation of something. Sometimes science cannot explain things. I believe that science will be able to explain everything eventually but that is beside the point. Science claims all life emerged from a single puddle of primordial soup. Everything has DNA and if we all emerged from this same soup then we should be compatible with other things.
In other words if you bred with a horse you should be able to create a centaur which is a mythological creature. It would also mean that we should have the same blood types, be able to transplant body parts without rejection and so on. Science always wants to find reasoning’s for why this or why that. The fact is sometimes plain and simple, God said it and it was so. What more do you need than that? If we are so great and do not need God as so many claim then why can’t we duplicate creation and make another world livable for mankind? You can ask thousands of questions but you may never get any answers.
Numbers are used in science to create mathematical equations. Christians believe that God has a number just like the beast des and it is 7. Look at the number seven. If you take enough of them you can form the Star of David and even a common star used in a pentagram. The one that I thought of the other night that blew my mind was opposition. Take 7 and then its complete opposition which inverts it upside down and turns it backwards as if looking into a mirror. Now overlap them and you have an hourglass or the symbol for infinite. Signs are there but not so much proof because we are supposed to believe off of faith. It’s a test and just like in school will we have enough faith to pass? This is up to us and our personal relationship with God, not someone else’s relationship.
I love to hear about other people’s experiences and personal relationships but note that I am an individual just like the rest of you and your life is different from mine so if you experience one thing and read a passage of scripture it may tell you something helpful that has nothing to do with me, whereas my experience may derive a completely different message from the same scripture. Scripture has multiple purposes when read. First it tells a tale in a literal sense. Secondly when used to analyze a personal experience in someone’s life it may have a different message altogether.
I pray this article can inform fellow Christians and enable them to be less aggressive in their Soul Winning agendas. I also pray that it opens the eyes of the non believers to a sense of enlightenment that allows them to at least listen to God not through another person so much as a Bible. Christians believe God loves all in the world.
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, for whosever call upon his name shall not perish but have everlasting life.”
